Dr. Öğr. Üyesi İbrahim Soner Özdemir: “Can You Trust a Japanese?” Earthquake and Japanese Ethics”

As a part of AR302 Architectural Design IV course, 2022-2023 Spring Term, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi İbrahim Soner Özdemir will present “Can You Trust a Japanese?” Earthquake and Japanese Ethics”. Everyone interested are invited.

After graduating from Middle East Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering, he completed his master’s degree in Hacettepe University, Department of Art History in 2002. He attended the seminars of Haruhiko Fujita and Ryôsuke Ôhashi at the Department of Aesthetics at Osaka University, where he was entitled to a doctoral research scholarship given by the Japanese Government, between 2005-2007, during his doctoral studies at the Middle East Technical University, Department of Philosophy. He received his PhD in 2011 with his thesis titled “Grasping the Space of the Heart/Mind: Artistic Creation and Natural Beauty in the Later Philosophy of Kitarô Nishida (1870-1945)”. He still continues to research and lecture on Japanese aesthetics, climatic and ecological aesthetics, the philosophy of the Kyoto School, and modern and contemporary art.
