Smart Energy Transformation in the Mediterranean: Ongoing Promotional Activities of the RESt4GREEN Project Partnered by IZTECH

The promotional activities for the RESt4GREEN project, funded under the European Union’s Interreg NEXT MED Programme and featured by the Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) as a key partner from Türkiye, are proceeding as planned. Within the scope of the informational activities conducted with the contributions of faculty members from the IZTECH Department of Architecture and the Department of Energy Systems Engineering, promotional meetings were organized for undergraduate and graduate students throughout the spring semester, during which the latest updates on the project were shared.

Implemented by an international consortium with a total budget of €2.8 million, the RESt4GREEN project brings together 7 Mediterranean countries: Greece, Spain, Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, and Türkiye. Aiming to enhance energy efficiency in public buildings and transform open public spaces through smart energy solutions, the project paves the way for a sustainable and green future in the Mediterranean basin.

During the events held throughout the spring term, IZTECH students were informed about the two primary focal points of the project: pilot energy transformations in public buildings and next-generation smart solar-powered urban furniture (solar trees and smart benches) to be deployed in public parks and squares. Thanks to these informational sessions, young researchers and students had the opportunity to closely monitor the details of this global, multi-partner project that contributes to the low-carbon future of the region.
